At Columbine Health, community is at the heart of everything we do. It’s the spirit of connection, compassion, and shared purpose that enriches the lives of our residents, families, and staff. This spirit was on full display over the past few months as our independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing communities came together for a cause that touches so many: the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.
This year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, held on October 4th and 5th, was more than just a two-day event. It was the culmination of months of dedicated fundraising, creative events, and heartfelt collaboration. We are incredibly proud to announce that, through the combined efforts of our entire Columbine family, $27,535.41 was raised for the Alzheimer’s Association.
A Cause That Unites Us All
The mission to end Alzheimer’s is deeply personal for many within our communities. The statistics highlight the urgency of this cause.
Over seven million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s, and for those aged 65 and older, the figure is a staggering one in nine.
Behind these numbers are individuals, families, and friends whose lives are forever changed by this disease. Furthermore, the impact extends to a vast network of caregivers.
Nearly 12 million Americans provide unpaid care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s or other dementias, offering countless hours of support, comfort, and assistance.
By participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we not only contribute to vital research but also honor the strength and dedication of these caregivers. Our unified effort helps provide crucial funds for research on the path to find a cure and supports programs that improve the quality of life for all those affected.
Months of Heartfelt Fundraising
Columbine teams demonstrated their creativity, generosity, and an abundance of community spirit. From lively carnivals and delicious bake sales to elegant gala dinners, our communities showed up time and time again.
From chilly dunk tanks and pie-in-the-face fun, to administrators washing cars, every dollar raised brought us a step closer to our goal. These events were more than just fundraisers; they were opportunities for connection, laughter, and teamwork, strengthening the connection that make our communities feel like home. Every sourdough loaf sold, every purple shirt worn, and every step taken was a symbol of our collective commitment.
