A heartfelt thank you to our community for helping make the 2025 Ride to End Alzheimer’s an unforgettable experience!
As of June 20, 2025, Team HiYaToots, co-led by Andrew Baker and Chelsea Irwin, has raised an incredible $18,073.96. Every dollar goes directly to the Alzheimer’s Association to fund life-changing research and support. The total raised by the Colorado Ride now exceeds $517,000 —a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together.
Why We Ride
This year, Andrew Baker, Administrator of The Worthington and Columbine Patio Homes, rode in loving memory of his mother, Linda Baker, who passed away on March 21 after a long, hard-fought battle with Alzheimer’s.
“Mom passed away on March 21st after a long, hard-fought battle with this horrible disease. Please join us in the fight in memory of my amazing mom.
This is for all those suffering and caregiving. For all of those watching a loved one or friend fade away. For all of those faced with this disease—I ride for you.
Thank you again for donating.”
Andrew completed 75 miles through the breathtaking foothills of Northern Colorado, finishing at Canvas Stadium with strength, purpose, and the enduring memory of his mom by his side.
“Your support means the world to me,” he shared. “Thank you for helping me honor my mother’s memory in such a meaningful way.”
Joining Andrew in leadership is Chelsea Irwin, Administrator of The Winslow Independent Living Community, who rides in honor of her father, Michael Meehan, and has participated in the Ride to End ALZ for over five years.
“When I was young, my father Michael Meehan passed away from Alzheimer’s, leaving a profound impact on me,” Chelsea says. “Determined to make a difference for all those affected by Alzheimer’s, I draw strength from the more than 6 million Americans living with this disease, as well as the over 11 million family members and friends who provide them with care. Additionally, I find inspiration in the advancements of science.
With each mile I pedal, I’m not only raising funds but also advancing research toward achieving the ultimate goal: the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. Your cheers and support mean the world to me!”
ALZHEIMER’S TOUCHES US ALL
Alzheimer’s is not just a statistic—it’s deeply personal. In the United States, more than 7 million individuals live with the disease, supported by over 11 million unpaid caregivers. At Columbine Health, Alzheimer’s care isn’t just a cause we support—it’s central to the compassionate care we provide every day.
Andrew and Chelsea’s leadership and dedication reflect not only their personal stories, but Columbine’s broader mission to support, honor, and empower those affected by dementia.
A Deep Commitment to Memory Care
Memory care is integral to Columbine Health’s commitment to its communities. New Mercer Commons offers specialized Assisted and Memory Care Assisted Living, including short-term respite programs as available. Columbine West Health and Rehab and Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab provide round-the-clock skilled nursing care, along with specialized therapies and secure memory units. Each memory care unit features a secure courtyard, fostering a safe and supportive environment. Notably, all Columbine Health care staff undergo SPECAL training through a partnership with Dementia Together. The SPECAL method, rooted in leveraging intact memories from individuals’ pasts, enhances well-being and quality of life for those living with dementia.
Looking Ahead with Hope
Columbine Health is proud to stand beside the Alzheimer’s Association in the fight for education, resources, and the search for a cure. Every donation, every mile, and every moment shared makes a difference.
To all who supported Team HiYaToots—through donations, kind words, and encouragement—thank you for riding with us in spirit.
