If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Makayla Kraemer, you know just how warm, friendly, and dedicated she is. As the Admissions Director at New Mercer Commons, Makayla is the friendly face that helps residents and their families navigate the transition into our community, making them feel right at home from the start.

Makayla’s adventure with Columbine Health Systems began when she joined New Mercer Commons as a shift manager and Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP). While pursuing her undergraduate degree at Colorado State University, she took her passion for helping others to the next level by interning in Social Services and discharge planning at Columbine Commons Rehab Facility. After earning her degree, Makayla found herself the perfect fit as the admissions director at New Mercer Commons, where she’s been making a difference for over a year now!

Makayla’s days are anything but ordinary! As the Admissions Director, she’s busy providing guided tours of New Mercer Commons, assessing potential residents, and ensuring families are supported every step of the way during the admission process. She’s also out in the community, attending events like Professionals for Seniors, and staying in touch with residents who may be temporarily off-site for rehab or hospital visits to ensure their smooth return.

For Makayla, the best part of her job is the opportunity to help families find comfort and peace during an overwhelming time. She’s passionate about the Columbine legacy and loves watching spouses rekindle their bond or residents make new friends and rediscover hobbies they once loved. These heartwarming moments fuel her passion and make her excited to come to work every day.
